Mind’s Eye is a gouache painting on Bristol paper inspired by my delve into the mind-body connection. Learning about physical pain caused by emotional trauma has led me into all sorts of reading about the brain, the pineal gland, spirituality and ancient teachings. This painting is about the idea of the mind’s eye and visualization. I wanted to depict this concept, yet avoid being overly literal. This is why I chose an abstracted, geometric, stylized representation of a face with two eyes, the bridge of the nose, forehead and the third eye.

This 9″×12″ piece is made of layers of color, one at a time. It has only three layers of gouache paint in lemon yellow, magenta and sky blue. As a result of layering, the colors come together optically to produce green and purple. Details and line work are defined with blue ink and the painting also has my signature.
