I’ve always known I wanted to be an artist. Throughout grade school I took art classes as electives and as extracurricular courses, then continued that path through college.
At the University of Texas at San Antonio, I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a minor in Art History. I later followed up with an Associates degree in Graphic Design at San Antonio College.
Today I create in my home studio in San Antonio and sell my work online.
About the Art
Although I enjoy drawing with graphite and pen & ink, my concentration is painting. I prefer working with oils but frequently use acrylic and gouache as well.
My favorite method of oil painting is called glazing. Paintings are built layer upon layer, one color at a time. Though time consuming, this method allows me to achieve great depth and brilliant color.
Reoccurring themes found in my work include the figure, anatomy, flowers, metaphysics and symbolism.
